For Spring 2024, Givenchy Creative Director Matthew M. Williams continues to assert a new elegance for women. Drawing inspiration from archives, this season’s lineup takes Hubert de Givenchy signatures into fresh territory, reworking motifs like snow leopard, revisiting draping techniques and bringing a fresh mix of materials to relaxed luxury essentials.
Daytime flou reprises the lavalliere from the Fall Winter 2023 runway presentation; in counterpoint, oversized, graphic shapes and an architectural S-neckline explore statement volumes. For evening, jersey dresses have crystal-embellished 4G lace inserts while thread-like metal chains on diaphanous slip dresses expand on the hardware vocabulary established by Matthew M. Williams.
Women’s key accessories include the Voyou statement handbag with oversized buckles, now in a corset version, plus new iterations of House icons. Footwear, too, flaunts a new elegance with attitude: The Cowboy Shark Lock boot appears in a corset version with a metallic 4G toe cap. A sleek wedge slingback or boot has a delicate 4G strap and comes in stretch nappa, spazzolato or with exotic details.
Creative Director Matthew M. Williams continues to assert a new masculine elegance, reviving the allure of Givenchy Gentleman and fusing its elegance, luxury and formality with of-the-moment essentials like cashmere sweatsuits. Key tailored pieces include a white blazer that channels Givenchy heritage and an evening jacket with a brooch-like placed thistle motif.
Men’s Voyou bags join the season’s lineup in both classic and crossbody versions, while new iterations of the Essential U Backpack include an oversized leather backpack and two small sling backpacks in nylon or leather.
Lush materials and oversized volumes blend comfort and simplicity. New this season are fully sustainable puffer jackets made of eco-nylon and dyed without water.
